Windwood Jazz Duo Concert & More at Lexington Pointe

Windwood Jazz Duo Concert & More at Lexington Pointe

September 6th, 2021

Lexington Pointe residents enjoyed an hour of music from the Windwood Jazz Duo. The performers, Chris and Conrad, put on a very entertaining show for a packed house. And it just so happens that Conrad is the son-in-law of two of our residents. Thank you both so much for donating your time and talents to our community! 🎸🎷

We recently enjoyed a lovely (and adorable) visit with our furry friend and therapy dog, Lexi. She’s a rescue who’s 7 years old and is amazing with our community members! While visiting with one of our Memory Care residents, Bob R., she tried to “sneak” some of his water and licked his straw, which gave everyone a good laugh! πŸ˜‚πŸ•β€πŸ¦Ί

Lexington Pointe celebrated it’s first anniversary/birthday on September 1, and one of our resident couples sent our staff a lovely card to commemorate the occasion:

“Happy Birthday to us! Lexington Pointe and all the personnel who make it function and [a] happy campus:

One year ago today, September 1, 2020, was certainly exciting and very busy. For us, getting the keys to our new home was finally here. We were ready to move in!

For Taylor, Emily and Suzy, it meant getting the new residents checked for COVID, answering a million questions, and dealing with their requests – some simple and some otherwise!

Here’s to many good years to come. We’ll drink to that!” -Jack and Jan

Thank you for the kind message, Jack and Jan. Even though the pandemic presented us all with many unique challenges, we’ve loved serving our residents and building such an close-knit, fun, and supportive community during our first year. We look forward to many more yet to come! πŸŽ‰πŸ₯‚❀️

National Night Out Celebration & More Summer Fun

September 2nd, 2021

Our National Night Out celebration was one for the books here at Lexington Pointe Senior Living! Community members in attendance were served a hot dog basket, root beer floats, and beer and wine. We also had a “smooch the pooch” kissing booth to enjoy some affection from an adorable puppy. Many attendees wore red, white, and blue in honor of our “Backyard Olympics” competition. Participants played cornhole (bean bag toss), washer toss, ring toss, a putting and chipping contest, and a water balloon toss. Some received gold medals for their victories, but everyone agreed that all the fun of playing together was the biggest prize.

We’d like to give a special thank you to “Denny the Muzikman” for entertaining us with his wonderful accordion performance, as well as the Alzheimer’s Association for their generous donations. And thank you to everyone who participated and made this incredible night of fun and community-building happen!

Lexington Pointe Senior Living’s staff received some heartwarming thank you letters following our National Night Out celebration, including this one from all our incredible residents:

“Thank you for your hard work and manual labor, food, entertainment, and clean-up on Tuesday night! It was fun and appreciated. Many thanks again.” – The Residents

We are so lucky to have such a fun, caring, and close-knit community. Thank you all for the kind and thoughtful messages – we are so glad to hear how much everyone enjoyed the night!

To help deal with the summer heat, we decided to have a water fight with students from the All Seasons Preschool. It was the perfect way to cool down and, as you can see, it spread a LOT of joy and laughter along the way! πŸ’¦πŸ€£

Members of our Memory Care units recently got together to shuck corn. Everyone had an amazing time and did an excellent job! A big thank you to Joan and Nancy for helping out. 🌽

A speaker from the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) recently came by Lexington Pointe to give a presentation about traveling during the pandemic, as well as other interesting information and developments at the airport. Many of our community members attended the event and found it very informative and enjoyable.

Earlier this summer, we hosted a tea party during the men’s semi-final match of Wimbledon. Chef John prepared some delicious tea sandwiches to enjoy while sipping tea of various flavors and watching the competition. We also had a trivia game about Wimbledon and tea party etiquette! πŸ«–β˜•πŸ₯ͺ🎾

Lexington Pointe’s management team celebrated National Tie Dye day in style! Here’s our Residence Director, Emily K., Director of Nursing, Suzy P., and Activities Director, Jen Z., showing off their fun and colorful outfits.

Cinco de Mayo Party & Other Spring Activities

May 20th, 2021

The staff at Lexington Pointe Senior Living planned and hosted a Cinco de Mayo party for our residents.

Attendees enjoyed a multitude of beverages and snacks, including margaritas, empanadas, churros, and chips and cheese.

One of the many highlights was the salsa-tasting contest. In the running were four different mild-heat salsas purchased from local stores. Sombreros off to the winner: Chi-Chi’s Mild Salsa.

The event was a smashing success, right down to the piΓ±ata celebration. Take a look at some of our photos to see just how much fun we had.

The whole gang at Lexington Pointe Senior Living gathered to commemorate and celebrate a Kentucky Derby Happy Hour.

The Derby is all about style, so some of our talented residents participated in a hat-making craft. They designed some elaborate headwear and donned their creations for our event.

Everyone enjoyed good times and great snacks, including some adorable and delicious racehorse cupcakes that chef Josh T. made special for this Happy Hour occasion.

Lexington Pointe Senior Living residents Chuck and Mary F. recently welcomed the spring season by enjoying a beautiful day outside. The warm sunshine and fresh spring air made for a perfect afternoon outdoors.

Chuck, Mary, and all of us in the community are looking forward to more gorgeous days like this. 🌞🌼

Super Bowl Party & The History of Cupcakes at Lexington Pointe

February 19th, 2021

On Friday, February 5, we decided to turn our community happy hour into a Super Bowl party here at Lexington Pointe! Our Residence Directory, Emily K., walked around with an inflatable football goal post on her head for a fun “ring toss” game for our residents. There was also a Super Bowl word scramble and football target toss game for everyone to enjoy. And, of course, we served up some Super Bowl classics like chicken wings, chips and salsa, and mini football cookies.

Lexington Pointe resident, Don B., went all out with his Valentine’s Day doorway decorations!

We certainly love a good cupcake here at Lexington Pointe Senior Living! Our amazing Chef, Josh T., and Dietary Aide, Christina N., teamed up for what we’re calling “The History of Cupcakes at Lexington Pointe,” AKA “Christina’s Cupcakes.” We can’t thank them enough for using their talents and passion in the kitchen to provide such a fun (and very, very tasty) experience for our residents. Check out all the deliciously creative treats they’ve been preparing and serving up!

COVID-19 vaccinations & Birthday Surprises

January 29th, 2021

Saturday, January 23 was a very big day as we had our COVID-19 vaccinations here at Lexington Pointe Senior Living! Thank you to everyone who made the vaccination clinic such a smooth, safe, and successful experience. We’re so happy to be taking this next step in protecting our community and returning to normal, and we’re very excited to keep moving forward!

Lexington Pointe Senior Living staff celebrated our friend and resident, Marie S., for her birthday! While she was having lunch, we surprised her with a cupcake and balloons while we sang “Happy Birthday” for her.

We also recently held a soap making class, and everyone who participated had SO much fun! The activity was extra special as it was on the birthday of our friend, Faye R. Associates surprised her with a cupcake, balloons, and a “Happy Birthday” serenade. And in case you’re wondering about her husband Wally’s hat, it says “85 never looked so good.”

Please join us in wishing Marie and Faye a very happy birthday! πŸŽ‰πŸ§πŸŽŠ

There was plenty of Christmas fun at Lexington Pointe! This is Gloria and George P., who live in our Memory Care unit, working on a popsicle snowman ornament craft last month. Getting crafty and creative always helps welcome the holiday spirit! ⛄️

This is Gloria and George P., who live in our Memory Care unit, working on a popsicle snowman ornament craft last month. Getting crafty and creative always helps welcome the holiday spirit! ⛄️

We held a holiday-themed happy hour last month, complete with decorated cups and tasty Christmas drink specials: egg nog and spiked hot chocolate. We hope you all had a safe and happy holiday season!

In celebration of the holidays, a group of Lexington Pointe Senior Living residents handcrafted Christmas stockings for students at the All Seasons Preschool located on our campus. The results were amazing, and we want to give a big THANK YOU to our stocking makers: Marie S., Bonnie E., Doris G., Linda D., Norella U., Marge D., and Faye R.

Here are photos from when we delivered our handmade stockings to the All Seasons Preschool. One of our residents, Rosi M., dressed as Mrs. Claus for the visit. In fact, she created her costume, costumes for her staff helpers, and the bags we used to carry the stockings herself! Thank you so much, Rosi – we’re so lucky to have such a talented and crafty member in our community!

Lexington Pointe Senior Living celebrated the holidays with a socially distanced party last month! Chef Josh and our amazing Dietary Team served a wide variety of delicious hors d’oeuvres for our residents to enjoy throughout the event, and everyone had an incredible time!
